Characteristics

Small, low growing plants with many stemless, closely packed rosettes forming mats. Leaves numerous, broadly-ovate at the base, narrow linear-subulate, fleshy; upper surface grooved, 9-11 cm long, 22 mm broad at base, pale green with distinct longitudinal lines; lower surface with small, whitish, papillose spots, margins with small white teeth. Inflorescence simple, rarely branched, up to 20 cm long. Racemes 15-20-flowered, spreading, with a very short pedicel. Perianth cylindrical, 10 mm long, greenish-white. Styles exserted 2 mm. Ovaries 2 mm long. Capsule not seen.

Stemless grass aloe 75-100 mm tall, usually in large groups. Leaves many in a rosette, linear, 70-125 x 4-15 mm, channelled, expanded at base, undersurface with white spots, margins dentate. Inflorescence a dense, cylindric raceme; peduncle 150-400 mm long, with sterile bracts; bracts narrowly deltoid-acuminate, ±3-6 x 2 mm, 3-nerved. Flowers sessile, greenish white, 8-10 mm long, mouth expanded; all segments free. Anthers not or hardly exserted. Ovary ±2-3 x 1 mm; style exserted 2-3 mm. Fruit not seen.
Succulent, perennial, dwarf herb, grass-like; acaulescent, rosettes up to 100 mm high, suckering to form dense groups. Leaves pale glaucous-green, minutely spotted below, distinct longitudinal lines at broad base, narrowly linear-subulate, 90-110 mm long, margins with small, soft, white teeth. Inflorescence simple, rarely branched, erect, up to 0.25 m high, with cylindric, lax racemes. Flowers greenish white, 8-15 mm long; stamens and stigma exserted. Flowering time Dec.-Mar.
Acaulescent, grass-like succulent, suckering to form dense colonies. Leaves pale glaucous-green, minutely spotted below, distinct longitudinal lines at broad base, narrowly linear-subulate, 9-11 cm long; margins with small, soft, white teeth.
