Characteristics

Herb, perennial, small, glabrous, dioecious, bushy, to c. 20 cm high and 30 cm across. Stems decumbent. Leaves widely spaced along stems; stipules with margins usually distally irregularly acuminate-lobed, rarely entire; lamina broadly obovate to oblanceolate, narrowly spathulate becoming linear upwards, 10–30 mm long, 2–8 mm wide, flat with margins thickened, slightly revolute; base attenuate; margins entire; apex obtuse with a subulate mucro. Flowers clustered in leaf axils. Male flowers 3 (or 4)-merous; stamens 3–6; filaments to c. 1.3 mm long; anthers 0.3–0.5 mm long. Capsules ± ovoid, c. 2.5 mm long, smooth.
