Characteristics

Herb, perennial, tufted, bushy, many-branched, monoecious, to c. 35 cm high and wide. Stems divaricately branched, becoming intricately entwined. Leaves evenly placed along stems; stipules irregularly long-fimbriate along margins; lamina obovate to elliptic, ovate, narrowly elliptic, narrowly ovate or linear, 6–13 mm long, 0.9–4 mm wide; base evenly attenuate to petiole; margins entire, a little revolute; apex acute or obtuse and shortly apiculate. Flowers clustered in most leaf axils. Male flowers 4-merous; stamens 6–8; filaments 0.5–1.3 mm long; anthers 0.2–0.3 mm long. Capsules ovoid, 2–2.5 mm long, mostly smooth.
