Characteristics

Decumbent shrublet. Branches ca. 35 cm, terete; upper part tomentose, lower glabrous, ca. 4 mm thick at the base. Lateral branchlets short, ca. 5 cm, erect patent, densely leafy. Leaves greyish, imbricate, hispid, broadly ovate or elliptic, 5.5-11.5 x 4.5-11.0 mm, mucronate, pubescent on both sides; the midrib beneath prominent, lateral veins scarcely visible. Flowers solitary in axils of upper leaves, shortly pedicellate; pedicel 0.4-0.5 mm. Bract subulate, 1.8-2.2 x 0.3-0.4 mm, acute, sericeous on both sides. Calyx densely sericeous, 4.5-5.0 mm; calyx lobes narrow triangular, acute, upper lobes medially fused to 1.0-1.5 mm from their apices, lower lobes sub-equal 2.0-2.5 mm; lower receptacular part 0.9-1.2 mm. Vexillum lamina rose or mauve, obovate, emarginate, 5.0-6.5 x 4.0-5.5 mm, base auriculate; claw 2.0-2.5 mm. Ala blades rose or mauve, sub-oblong, 5.0-5.5 x 2.2-2.3 mm, broadest in the middle, apex bilobed, base subauriculate; claws 2.8-3.2 mm. Carina blades dark purple, narrow oblong-falcate, 4.0-4.5 x 1.6-2.0 mm, apex rounded, base auriculate with a small basal bulge; claws 2.8-3.0 mm. Stamens adnate to the receptacle for 0.9-1.2 mm, excluding this 6.0-6.5 mm, connate for the basal 3.2-4.2 mm; anthers unequal 0.3-0.5 mm. Pistil 6.0-7.2 mm, uni-ovulate; ovary and lower part of style sericeous, upper part glabrous. Pods not seen in the herbarium material.
