Characteristics

Small virgate, suberect or ascending many-stemmed shrublet, 25-50 cm tall. Branches erect or ascending, simple or sparingly divided, tomentose or sericeous, later glabrous. Leaves scattered or crowded, erect or erecto-patent, oblong or elliptic-oplong, acute or mucronate, 4.5-11.0 x 1.2-4.5 mm, subrevolute, greyish sericeous on both sides. Inflorescences 1-3-flowered, axillary, sessile or subsessile, aggregated beyond upper leaves, capitate or in a spike-like assemblage, the axis eventually continuing the growth apically. Flowers pale violet with dark purple keel. Pedicel 0.4-0.9 mm or lacking. Bract linear, lanceolate or subulate, acute, acuminate or cuspidate, 1.2-2.4 x 0.3-O.5 mm, sericeous. Calyx sericeous, 2.5-5.0 mm; calyx lobes triangular, acute or acuminate; upper calyx lobes medially fused to 0.7-1.2 mm from their apices, lower calyx lobes larger, 1.5-3.2 mm; receptacular part 0.5-0.8 mm. Vexillum lamina pale violet, 4.8-6.5 x 4.2-5.5 mm, broadly obtrullate, emarginate, continuous with the claw 1.3-2.2 mm. Ala blades pale violet, obliquely oblong, 3.8-5.5 x 1.3-2.6 mm, apically rounded and with a basal fold; claws 2.2-2.8 mm. Carina blades cymbiform, dark purple, 3.2-4.0 x 1.3-2.0 mm, rounded apically, basally with a prominent spur; claws 2.3-3.1 mm. Stamens 5.2-6.5 mm, adnate to the receptacle for 0.5-0.8 mm; excluding this connate basally for further 1.8-3.2 mm; filaments slender; anthers dimorph 0.3-0.6 mm. Pistil 5.0-6.5 mm, uni-ovulate; ovary sericeous, style glabrous. Pod ovate, ca. 5 x 3.5 mm, acute-acuminate, 1-seeded, silky sericeous. Seeds dark brown, 2.2-2.3 x 1.4-1.5 mm, arillus 1.2-1.3 mm.
