Characteristics

Low, densely much branched shrub, 20-50 cm tall. Branches woody, erect or ascending. Branchlets patent with a thick, short coat of viscid hairs, mixed with long, soft, white hairs, leafy or with prominent cicatrices left from fallen leaves. Leaves minutely blackdotted, sessile, ovate, acuminate, cordate, flat or more often slightly concave with margins subincurved, 5.5-10.03.5-6.5 mm; upper side glabrous and shiny, lower more or less villous or glabrous, rugose, one-nerved, young margins fringed with long soft hairs; petiole very short broad and tomentose; leaf base swollen. Flowers white and purple, small, sessile, 1-2 in axils, hidden beyond the upper leaves. Bract oblong, obtuse, 0.8-1.8 x 0.3-0.6 mm, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, margins slightly ciliate. Calyx subcoriaceous, 2.0-3.3 mm, glabrous or very sparsely pubescent; calyx lobes short, obtuse, margins slightly ciliate; upper lobes medially connate to 0.5 mm from their apices, lower lobes 0.8-1.1 mm. Vexillum lamina white, sub-orbicular, deeply emarginate, base auriculate, 3.8-6.2 x 3.8-6.0 mm; claw 1.2-1.8 mm. Ala blades white, oblong, 3.5-5.5 x 1.3-2.2 mm, apically subtruncate, basically saccate; claws 1.5-2.8 mm. Carina blades purple, obliquely oblong, obtuse and with a basal puckering; 3.0-4.0 x 1.3-1.8 mm; claws 2.2-3.0 mm. Stamens 4.5-6.5 mm, adnate to the receptacle for ca. 0.5 mm; staminal tube 3.0-4.5 mm, filaments slender, anthers 0.4-0.7 mm. Pistil 6.0-7.0 mm, slightly upcurved; ovary sericeous, uni-ovulate; style pubescent on lower half, upper half glabrous. Pod obliquely ovate, 6.0-6.5 x 3.2-4.0 mm, sparsely pubescent.
