Characteristics

Erect or ascending shrublet, 30-60 cm tall. Branches virgate, slender, diameter 1-3 mm, glabrous except the part opposite the leaves, which is pilose. Leaves opposite, erect, often appressed, linear, subacute, 3.2-7.0 x 0.5-1.2 mm, concave with the apex hardened and margins incurved; nerves not visible; upper side sericeous, lower glabrous. Flowers subsessile, often paired in the axils of the leaves and aggregated 2-10 in heads or spikes at the end of the branches with the inflorescence axis continuing the growth apically. Pedicels short 0.3-1.1 mm, peduncles even shorter, 0.4-0.8 mm. Bract leafy, lanceolate, 2.5-3.8 x 0.7-1.2 mm, subacute, inserted at the pedicel base; upper side sericeous, lower glabrous. Calyx campanulate, sericeous, 4.2-5.3 mm; calyx lobes triangular, subulate, acute; lower lobe 2.6-3.0 mm broader than the lateral ones 2.2-2.4 mm; upper two lobes medially connate to 1.1-1.3 mm from their apices. Vexillum lamina mauve, obcordate, 4.2-5.4 x 3.1-4.5 mm, base rather narrow; claw 1.0-1.5 mm. Ala blades mauve, oblong, rounded and broadest on the apical part, 3.5-4.6 x 1.3-2.2 mm with a basal fold; claws 2.0-2.5 mm. Carina blades dark purple, obliquely oblong, 2.0-3.2 x 1.2-1.5 mm, obtuse with small but prominent puckerings; claws 2.0-2.5 mm. Stamens 4.2-5.5 mm; staminal tube 2.0-3.0 mm; anthers unequal, 0.3-0.4 mm. Pistil 4.8-5.2 mm; ovary pilose, biovulate; style upcurved, glabrous. Pods not seen in the herbarium material.
