Characteristics

Woody, half horizontal much branched shrub, ca. 90-130 cm tall. Branches and branchlets sericeous-villous, upper part moderately densely leafy, lower part with numerous prominent cicatrices from fallen leaves. Leaves coriaceous, lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, acute, 7.0-14.0 x 3.2-6.5 mm with margins recurved; upper surface glabrous, shiny; lower greyish-white sericeous. Inflorescences unifloral, subsessile, aggregated in many-flowered terminal capitulums. Flowers white and violet. Pedicel 0.3-0.8 mm. Bract linear-lanceolate acute, 2.0-4.0 x 0.4-0.8 mm, sericeous. Calyx 3.5-6.8 mm, sericeous; calyx lobes triangular, sub-acuminate; upper lobes medially connate to 1.0-1.9 mm from their apices, lower lobes larger, subequal, 2.3-4.5 mm. Vexillum lamina white, sub-orbicular, 5.2-6.5 x 5.0-6.0 mm, emarginate; claw 2.1-2.8 mm. Ala blades white, oblong, 4.5-5.5 x 2.0-2.8 mm, obtuse, basally with a fold; claws 2.2-3.5 mm. Carina blades violet, cymbi-form, 3.8-4.2 x 1.5-2.2 mm; claws 2.2-3.5 mm. Stamens 5.5-8.0 mm, staminal tube 3.0-4.2 mm; anthers subequal 0.2-0.6 mm. Pistil 6.5 mm, uni-ovulate; ovary and lower part of style sericeous, upper part glabrous. Pod ovate, acuminate, 7.5-8.0 x 4.0-4.5 mm, sericeous; seed ca. 3.2 x 2.0 mm.
