Characteristics

Woody, branched, divaricate, rigid, silvery shrub 60-100 cm tall. The larger branches 2-4 mm in diameter, closely set with more slender, erecto-patent branchlets 5.0-7.5 cm. Leaves spreading, lanceolate, acute, flattish, one-nerved, 5.5-12.0 x 1.7-4.5 mm, appressedly sericeous on both surfaces, leaf margins slightly recurved. Inflorescences 1-2-flowered, subsessile, axillary, aggregated terminally in spikes, axillary in corymbs or capitate at the end of the branchlets. Pedicel 0.6-0.9 mm. Bract lanceolate, acute, 1.2-2.2 x 0.2-0.5 mm, sericeous. Calyx sericeous, 2.5-3.8 mm; calyx lobes triangular, acute; upper ones medially fused to 0.4-0.8 mm from their apices; lower ones 1.0-2.0 mm. Corolla mauve and purple. Vexillum lamina mauve, suborbicular, emarginate, 4.2-6.7 x 4.2-6.5 mm, gradually continuing in a rather broad claw, 1.5-2.3 mm. Ala blades mauve, obliquely oblong 3.6-5.0 x 1.3-2.1 mm, broadest on the middle and with a basal fold; claws 2.3-3.2 mm. Carina blades purple, cymbiform, 3.2-4.1 x 1.4-1.8 mm, rounded apically and with a prominent basal spur; claws 2.3-3.0 mm. Stamens 5.0-6.0 mm, apart from this 0.5-0.8 mm adnate to the receptacle; staminal tube 2.3-3.8 mm; anthers unequal 0.3-0.6 mm. Pistil 5.5-7.5 mm, uni-ovulate; ovary sericeous, style glabrous except for the basal part. Pod ovate, tomentose, 6.5-7.0 x 3.0-4.0 mm.
