Characteristics

Plant erect, compact, glabrous; epicortical runners absent. Leaves lanceolate to narrowly obovate, rounded at apex; lamina usually 20-35 mm long, usually 2-4 mm wide, attenuate at base, without distinct petiole. Inflorescence a pedunculate umbel of triads, the central flower sessile, the laterals pedicellate; peduncle slender, usually 6-14 mm long; rays of umbel usually 2, 5-9 mm long, not strongly divergent; pedicels angular or winged, 1.5-4.5 mm long; bracts 1-1.5 mm long, concave, acute. Calyx 0.3 mm long, minutely lobed. Corolla in mature bud slender in middle, 14-22 mm long, 4-or 5-merous, markedly clavate, red. Anthers 1-2 mm long, c. 1/2 length of free part of filament. Fruit nearly globular, 6-8 mm long, red.
