Flowers pale pink, apricot or white, terminal, solitary, hidden by the bracts or visible if grown under humid conditions; bracts 4–7 mm. long, ovate-lanceolate, acute, imbricate, similar in appearance to the stipules.
Seeds c. 0·6 × 0·5 mm., ellipsoid with a minute blunt horn or outgrowth, pale brown with an interior transparent integument covered over most of its surface by a paler outer integument.
Succulent perennial herb, up to 20 mm tall. Leaves spirally arranged, small, half hidden under stipules. Stipules submembranous, scaly and silvery. Flowers pale pink, apricot or white.
Densely caespitose glabrous branching perennial up to c. 3 cm. tall; branches erect, usually simple, c. 3 mm. in diam.
