Corymbophore (5-)8-17(-22) cm long and (1-)1.5-2.5(-3) mm in diameter when fully developed, densely woolly. Corymb (1-)1.5-3(-6.5) cm wide. Peduncles 5-15(-35) mm long, densely woolly. Capitula 5-6-flowered. Involucral bracts 15-22. Outer bracts elliptic or broadly elliptic-ovate, 3-5 mm long and 1.5-2(-2.5) mm wide (the outermost somewhat shorter and narrower), light brown with a deeper brown or more often bright red apex, acute, outside and margins glabrous or sparsely sericeous (-woolly) at the very base. Middle bracts stipitate; claw elliptic-obovate, 2-2.5 mm long and 1-1.5(-2) mm wide, light brown-light green, outside (sparsely) and margins (densely) woolly; lamina broadly obovate, 2-2.5 mm long and 1.5-2(-2.5) mm wide, white, opaque, truncate (-somewhat emarginate). Inner bracts stipitate; claw narrowly elliptic-narrowly obovate, 3-3.5 mm long and 0.5-1 mm wide, light brown(-light green), outside glabrous, margins densely woolly; lamina broadly elliptic-circular, (1-)1.5-2 mm long and 1-1.5(-2) mm wide, white, opaque, obtuse-truncate. Female floret 1. Corolla 2.5-3 mm long, often somewhat purplish below the middle. Pappus bristles c. 10, (0.5-)1-1.5 mm long, otherwise as in male florets. Achene narrowly oblong-narrowly elliptic, 1.6-2(-2.5) mm long and 0.5-0.8 mm wide, deep brown, copiously white-woolly. Male florets 4-5. Corolla 2.5-3(-3.5) mm long, often somewhat darker below the middle. Pappus bristles c. 15, 2-2.5 mm long, white, somewhat flexuous, barbellate, basally fused into an annulus.
