Species

Angiosperms > Ranunculales > Ranunculaceae > Anemone

Characteristics

0.50 to 1.40 m. Rhizome ascending to vertical. Indumentum: sparsely pilose, leaf-bases and petioles densely adpressedly pilose to sparsely pilose. Leaves beneath diffusely pilose to sparsely pilose along main veins, above glabrous except the minutely hirsute main veins. Margins and sinuses sometimes sparsely ciliate. Leaves bi-to triternate. Leaflets broadly trullate to ovate in outline, sometimes broader than long, simple to 1-2 times pinnately lacerate: bases truncate, cuneate to decurrent; apices acute to attenuate. Margins thickened to revolute, acutely serrate: sinuses forming acute to right (rarely obtuse) angles. Scape 280-975 mm, exceeding leaves, 1.5-9.4 mm in diameter. Bracts acute: lower bracts ternately or pinnately compound to dissected with narrow segments, deeply serrate; upper bracts simple, narrowly elliptic to linear, entire. Inflorescence 3-5 times compound, containing 14-58(-200) flowers. Flowers 16-30 mm in diameter; tepals 9-22, cream to greenish-white, elliptic to obovate, length/breadth ratio 2/1 to 6/1. Pollen sacs twice as long as broad or longer. Ovaries 9-46, shorter than to as long as styles, glabrous, slightly pilose at base or pilose. Torus steeply conical to globular. Fruits up to 5.2 x 3.0 mm.
