Characteristics

0.20-0.60 m, rarely taller. Rhizome horizontal, with short internodes. Leaves 173-473 mm long, ternate to triternate. Leaflets of 2nd order 45-115 x 33-87 mm, of 3rd order 38-60 x 17-40 mm, length/breadth ratio 5/4 to 3/2 in leaflets of 2nd order, usually slightly higher in leaflets of 3rd order. Scape 40-470 mm, 1.6-3.8 mm in diameter. Upper bracts broadly ovate to spatulate. Inflorescence 2-4 times compound, containing 12-88 flowers. Flowers 16-33(-45) mm in diameter; tepals 15-23, light yellow-green, elliptic to obovate, length/breadth ratio 3/1 to 6/1. Ovaries 22-50(-74). Torus broadly semi-globular, forming pronounced carpellophores, the length of which may attain 3 mm. Fruits up to 7.0 x 4.0 mm, borne on carpellophores, probably changing from red to black.
