Glabrous, aromatic annual. Leaves 3–4-pinnate, continually dissected into fine filiform segments. Umbels compound, numerous, leaf-opposed; involucre and involucel none. Flowers polygamous. Calyx-teeth absent. Petals yellow, strongly incurved at the tip and emarginate. Fruit elliptic-oblong, strongly dorsally compressed, the mericarps not narrowed to the broad commissure; primary ribs pale, conspicuous, the 3 dorsal filiform, the 2 laterals expanded into a rather thick wing-like margin; valleculae each with a single dark vitta, commissure bivittate; stylopodia shortly conical; carpophore deeply bifid. Endosperm depressed-pentagonal, somewhat sulcate below the vittae.
Strongly anise-scented, glabrous and glaucous annual herbs; stems erect, branched, the leaves petiolate, pinnately decompound, the petiole sheathing; in-florescence of terminal and lateral compound umbels, an involucre and involucel usually lacking; flowers yellow, the petals with an inflexed apex, the calyx obsolete; stylopodium conical; the styles short, reflexed, the carpophore parted to the base; fruit flattened dorsally, all ribs narrowly winged, the lateral broader than the dorsal, the vittae solitary in the intervals, 2-4 on the commissure; seed flattened dorsally, its face flat or slightly concave.
