Creeping herb with some erect stems, 10–30 cm high, much branched to almost unbranched; stems terete, striate, white-pubescent.. Leaves sessile, grey-green, aromatic, bi-or tri-pinnatisect, in outline elliptic to lanceolate, 1–6 cm long, 0.4–1.5 cm wide, at the base widening and half-amplexicaul with simple pinnae, higher up on leaf with 4–6-branched pinnae which in turn are divided into 1–5 pinnules, these entire or with up to 3 segments, the final segments lanceolate, up to 3 mm long, 1 mm wide, acute, pubescent, with dark glands.. Capitula solitary, terminal, 10–15 mm long; capitulum stalk 1–8 cm long, pubescent; phyllaries green, edged with brown, 2–4-seriate, ± equal, appressed, erect, 32–36, triangular, obtuse, 2–6 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, pubescent with broad scarious margins; scales of the receptacle almost filiform, but flattened, 3.5–4 mm long, white with a dark brown apex.. Ray florets white, variously reported to close or to become reflexed at night, 14–21, rays 7–10 mm long, 2–4.5 mm wide, the tube ± 1.5 mm long, style ± 2.5 mm long; disc florets yellow or rarely orange, many (50+), corolla-tube 2–2.5 mm long, lobes ± 0.5 mm long, anthers ± 1 mm long, style ± equalling the lobes..
