Characteristics

Wispy rounded shrublet to 60 cm high, almost leafless in flowering state. Branches very slender, ascending to arcuate, green and largely remaining so, glabrous or the older ones with longitudinal ridges, these surmounted with non-glandular hairs. Leaves borne singly, sessile, mostly caducous; lamina narrowly elliptic or obovate (almost linear) with acute apex and entire to minutely dentate, flat margin, 3–27 mm long, 0.7–2 mm wide, membranaceous to slightly thick, glabrous or with scattered glandular hairs c. 0.05 mm long and often a row of non-glandular hairs 0.05–0.15 mm long along the margin. Flowers in loose aggregations terminating all branches in distal parts of plant, solitary or in cymes, subtended by or borne opposite to leaf-like bracts; bracts c. 2 mm long; pedicels 5–8 mm long. Calyx 3.5–4 mm long. Corolla 15–21 mm long, pale yellow-green, striations purplish; tube contracted at rim; lobes linear, 10–15 mm long, c. 0.5 mm wide, incurved, margins undulate (often so that the lobes are twisted). Stamens: longer pair 3.9–4.2 mm long, shorter pair 3.4–3.7 mm long. Capsule ellipsoid, acute, 6.5–10 mm long. Seeds 5–8 in all, c. 1.5 mm long.
