Dwarf shrub, many stemmed, cushion-or mat-forming or ± erect and cylindrical, (40-) 100-300(-500) mm high, dioecious. Stems mostly much branched, densely hairy. Leaves decussate; blade narrowly ovate, often appearing terete due to strongly revolute margins, 2.5-5.0(-6.0) x 0.8-1.2(-1.8) mm, with white spreading hairs 0.1-0.3(-0.5) mm long above, glabrous except for midrib below; stipular sheath with hairy seta. Flowers: corolla with tube up to 1 mm long, lobes up to 2.3 mm long; yellowish to yellowish green, usually hairy outside; Aug.-Jan. Fruit with mericarps ± obovate, 2.0-2.5 x 1.0-1.5 mm, mostly densely covered with white spreading hairs.

Leaves decussate, narrowly lanceolate, curved upwards, pubescent above, glabrous below except midrib; petioles subobsolete; stipular sheath with hairy seta. Flowers paired at nodes. Corolla yellowish green, usually pubescent outside. Male flowers: tube 0.7-1.0 mm long, broadly funnel-shaped to subcampanulate, lobed; anthers 1.0-1.6 mm long. Female flowers: tube ± 0.3 mm long; style absent, stigma up to 7.5 mm long. Ovary 1.2 x 0.8 mm, densely hairy, with 4 calyx lobes. Flowering time Nov. Fruit greyish brown, pubescent, subobovate, mericarps up to 2.5 x 1.5 mm.
