Characteristics

Shrub 2 m. tall; stems basally woody, densely covered with white spreading hairs but finally glabrescent and with somewhat peeling epidermis; internodes mostly rather short, 0.5–2.3 cm. long.. Leaves opposite and also with short undeveloped axillary leafy shoots giving a verticillate appearance; blades linear-lanceolate to linear-oblong, (1–)1.3–5.5 cm. long, (0.3–)0.55–1 cm. wide, acute or subacute at the apex, narrowed to the base, strongly revolute, ± discolorous, pubescent above and more densely so beneath particularly on the main nerves which are distinctly whitish; petioles obsolete; stipules with 3 setae 3–6 mm. long from a base 0.5–1 mm. long.. Flowers in sessile axillary several-flowered clusters, unisexual and dioecious.. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long; lobes very short.. Corolla yellow or yellowish green, pubescent outside; tube in ♂ flowers 1.5–1.8 mm. long; lobes oblong-elliptic, 2.5 mm. long, 1 mm. wide; filaments 2.5–3 mm. long; anthers 2.2 mm. long; styles reduced to 2 free arms ± 0.8 mm. long.. Fruits not known.
