Characteristics

Tubers not seen. Leaves submerged; petiole c. 5 cm long; blade linear, rarely slightly broadened, 24–32 cm long, 0.9–3 mm wide, not bullate; base long-tapered, almost parallel-sided; margins flat; apex obtuse to rarely retuse; veins 5; lacunae band prominent, to 2 mm wide, with up to 4 rows on each side of midvein. Peduncle to 32 cm long, broadening at inflorescence base. Spathe not seen. Inflorescence emergent, single, to 7.5 cm long, yellow. Flowers closely to widely spaced, turned in all directions, bisexual. Perianth segments 2, spathulate, 1–1.4 mm long, yellow, 1-veined. Stamens 6. Carpels 3. Fruiting carpels 2.5–3.0 mm long, 2.0–2.8 mm wide; beak terminal, erect to slightly curved, c. 1 mm long. Seeds (1 or) 2 or 3 per fruit, broadly ellipsoid, 0.7–1.4 mm long, 0.4–0.8 mm wide; single testa with tight coat and fine reticulations.
