Characteristics

Tubers ovate-elongate, to 5 cm long. Leaves submerged; petiole to 36 cm long; blade linearlanceolate, 10–48 cm long, 0.9–3.8 cm wide, slightly to strongly bullate; base narrowly cuneate; margins slightly undulate; apex obtuse or narrowly blunt-cuneate; veins 7–9; lacunae in 0–2 rows on each side of midvein. Peduncle to 74 cm long, broadest at inflorescence base. Spathe 0.9–1.5 cm long, caducous. Inflorescence mostly floating, the tip emergent, single, rarely branched, to c. 34 cm long, yellow. Flowers widely to closely spaced, borne in all directions, bisexual. Perianth segments 2, spathulate, 1.5–1.7 mm long, yellow, 1-veined. Stamens (4–) 6 (–8). Carpels (2–) 3–5 (–7). Fruiting carpel 3–3.9 mm long, 2.7–3.5 mm wide; beak terminal, straight or bent. Seeds 3–8 per fruit, almost cylindric, 2.1–3.2 mm long, 0.6–1 mm wide, with double testa, the outer loose with longitudinal folds.
