Perennial herb, widely spreading, 0.25 m high, up to 1 m in diameter. Stems procumbent, trailing, subflexuous, densely branched; woody and leafy throughout; hirsute. Leaves sessile to shortly petiolate; not crowding flowers; blade narrowly ovate-obovate or narrowly obovate, 10-20 mm long, covered at least below with forwardly directed, curved, simple or gland-tipped hairs; petioles often much shorter than leaves. Flowers: calyx 6-8 mm long; corolla 12-19 mm long, deep blue to purple or mauve; Sep.-May.
