Leaves sessile; alternate, often clustered on small branches; blade linear-spathulate, 5-9 x 0.75-1.25 mm, apex apiculate. Flowers: axillary or on reduced side shoots, longer than leaves; calyx shortly 5-lobed, subdensely glandular-pilose, strongly nerved, especially in fruit; corolla tubular, with short lobes, 12-22 mm long, bluish violet, darker at centre, sometimes with dark spots or striae, throat sometimes white; Sep.-Apr.

Corolla bluish violet, darker at centre; tube 10–12 mm. long, narrow base within calyx, broader above, shortly glandular-pilose without; lobes subcircular.
Calyx 5–9 mm. long, with lobes 2.0–2.5(4) mm. long, lanceolate, acute, subdensely glandular-pilose, strongly nerved especially in fruit.
Flowers sessile to subsessile, axillary or on much reduced lateral shoots.
Anthers minutely pubescent, oblong-reniform.
Seeds closely minutely tuberculate, grey.
