Characteristics

Autoicous, green of yellowish green, rarely brown, corticolous. Stem to 25 mm long, irregularly branched. Leaves imbricate, slightly falcate, ligulate, 1.2 x 0.8 mm, apex rounded. Marginal cells 10 x 10-12 µ, cells in the centre of the lobe 14 x 14-18 x 10 µ, basal cells 18 x 36 µ, trigones small. Lobule small, oblong, keel straight, apical tooth short, mamillate or lacking, Amphigastria large, to 5 limes broader than the stem, subrotund, often recurved. Perianth pyriform, with one innovation, ventral keels decurrent almost to the base, alate, wings shortly dentate. Female bracts twice as long as the leaves, ligulate, lobule linear. Bracteole ovate-elliptical, as long as the bracts. Androecia apical in branches, bracts in five pairs.
