Characteristics

Subshrubs, with long creeping rhizomes. Stems 10-30 cm, minutely puberulent. Petiole 2-3 mm, ± minutely puberulent or brown scaly, canaliculate; leaf blade ovate-or oblong-lanceolate, rarely lanceolate, 2-6.5 × 0.6-1.9 cm, papery, glabrous, minutely punctate abaxially, base rounded or subcordate, margin irregularly serrate, reflexed, apex acute or obtuse; lateral veins slightly raised adaxially, 3-5(-8) on each side of and at right angles to midrib, marginal vein evident. Infructescences axillary or subapical, umbellate, simple, minutely and densely puberulent or brown scaly; peduncle 0.8-1.5 cm. Flowers unknown. Pedicel 3-4 mm. Fruit red, globose, ca. 6 mm in diam., not punctate, glabrous, 2 or 3 per infructescence. Fr. Mar.
