Plants mostly 700-1200 mm high. Stem compressed below and ± elliptic in section, rounded to weakly 2-angled above, subdichotomously several-branched, branches terete, with 1 to 3 sessile lateral flower clusters and 1 or more axillary branches or sessile flower clusters. Flowers ± sessile or on pedicels up to 2 mm long, pale to medium blue; tepals spreading, inner obovate, 9-12 x 5-8 mm, outer 8-10 x 4-5 mm. Filaments divergent, 3-4 mm long; anthers ± 2 mm long. Style 6-7 mm long, strongly deflexed, minutely 3-lobed apically. Capsules ovoid, 3-lobed, (5-)6-7 mm long, on pedicels 1-4 mm long. Seeds angular-prismatic, ± 1.5 mm long, sculpturing foveate.
