Aristea recisa Weim.

Plants mostly 200-400 mm high, forming small tufts. Stems compressed, simple or with 1 to 3 slender, suberect branches. Leaves in a basal tuft, sword-shaped, as long as or longer than stem, 3-5 mm wide, soft-textured. Flower clusters few in lax arrangement, each 2-to 4-flowered; spathes and bracts 12-13 mm long, green to brown in the centre with broad translucent margins closely and shallowly fringed, rust-brown in distal 1/3. Flowers blue; tepals ± 12 mm long. Filaments ± 5 mm long; anthers ± 2.5 mm long. Style ± 7 mm long; stigma lobes shortly fringed. Capsules ± 8 mm long, deeply 3-winged. Seeds lamellate, mature seeds unknown but evidently kidney-shaped, with foveate sculpturing, 2 per locule, margins shortly papillate.
