Characteristics

More or less prostrate undershrubs, multi-stemmed at base, hairy. Leaves distichous, shortly petiolate. Inflorescence of few-flowered clusters somewhat hidden beneath the leafy stems; clusters subsessile or distinctly pedunculate, with an inconspicuous bract subtending each flower. Flowers bisexual, shortly pedicellate. Hypanthium very short. Sepals 5 or 6, valvate. Corolla lobes absent. Stamens c. twice as many as sepals and nearly as long, in 1 whorl. Ovary 5-locular; style short; stigma capitate.
