Characteristics

Dwarf, much-branched shrub, up to 0.5 m high, forming low, compact cushions, young stems densely leafy. Leaves closely imbricated, linear, abruptly acute, up to 15 x 2 mm, margins strongly revolute, both surfaces glandular-pilose, midrib strongly raised below. Capitula sessile, solitary at branch tips; involucre turbinate, 12 x 10-12 mm; bracts pale brown or straw-coloured, lightly woolly, minutely glandular. Flowers yellow, rays female, discs hermaphrodite. Flowering time Jan. Pappus of ± 17 bristles, subequal, the longest equalling the corolla of disc flowers, persistent. Achene 10-ribbed, ± 3-5 mm long, pilose.
