Straggly shrub up to c. 1 m high and as much across, young branches white tomentose, closely leafy. Leaves patent, c. 10-13 x 1.25 mm, linear, apex very acute with a strongly developed apiculus deflexed to form a sharp hook, margins revolute, merging into the apiculus, upper surface green, glossy, with a few white woolly hairs and stout gland-tipped hairs particularly towards the tips and margins, lower densely white tomentose. Heads sessile, solitary at the branch tips. Involucre turbinate, c. 12 x 10 mm, bracts straw-coloured, brownish towards the tips, thinly woolly. Flowers yellow, both rays and disc fertile. Achenes not seen, ovaries glabrous, 10-ribbed. Pappus bristles scabrid, about equalling cylindric part of corolla tube, caducous.
