Leaf-blades elliptic, ovate-elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 3.5–20 cm. long, 2–7 cm. wide, obtuse or acuminate at the apex, slightly cordate at the base, coriaceous, glabrous and shining above, with scattered long appressed hairs beneath, particularly on midrib and margin; leaf-buds densely ferruginous bristly pilose; venation prominent beneath; petiole 2–3 mm. long, pilose.. Inflorescences mostly 2–3(–7)-flowered, ferruginous pilose; bracts several, ovate, concave; pedicels 2–3 mm. long.. Sepals broadly triangular, 2.5–4 mm. long and wide, cordate, pilose outside, glabrous inside.. Petals yellow-brown, subequal, thick, bristly ferruginous pilose outside; outer narrowly lanceolate-cylindrical, 1 cm. long, 2 mm. wide, obtuse, the inner subcylindrical, 1 mm. wide, all dilated at the base, the dilation 3 mm. long and wide.. Stamens ± 24, 0.8 mm. long.. Carpels 12, 1.2 mm. long, minutely puberulous or glabrous but with bristly yellow hairs surrounding the base; style tongue-shaped..
