Characteristics

Annual herb, glandular and aromatic. Leaves alternate, sessile, woolly. Capitula very small, disciform, few together in small axillary glomerules and surrounded by long woolly hairs; receptacle convex, epaleate; phyllaries 2-seriate, subequal. Outer florets in several rows, female, filiform; inner florets few, hermaphrodite, anther bases caudate, style branches truncate with apical hairs. Achenes glandular-hairy; pappus of outer florets a minute corona of scales, sometimes with inner setae as well; of inner florets with an outer row of narrow, fused scales and an inner row of few barbellate setae.
