Characteristics

Rosette absent or on lateral growth; leaves 2–5, narrowly lanceolate, 10–25 × 3–5 mm, pale green. Flower stem 60–250 mm tall, 3–15-flowered. Flowers 8–12 mm long, pale green with thin, hair-like, dark red to brownish labellum glands. Dorsal sepal 7–8 × 1 mm. Lateral sepals 3.5–4.5 × 1 mm. Petals 5–5.5 × 0.4 mm. Labellum stalk c. 3 mm long. Labellum lamina c. 4.5 × 0.6 mm, green with dark red basal blotch; free basal part of labellum c. 2 mm long. Callus c. 3 mm long, central area naked or sparsely covered with shiny, thin, hair-like calli 0.3–0.7 mm long; margins with sparse similar calli; limb of callus c. 1.3 mm long, apex broadly notched, c. 1.3 mm wide, with small, shiny, black or red warts.

Environment

Highly localised; growing among dense sedges, rushes and low shrubs in woodland dominated by Broad-leaved Paperbark in seasonally moist to wet, grey, sandy loam. The habitat where this species grows becomes very dense and overgrown unless burnt.
