Characteristics

Rigid, erect, dense, compact, perennial shrubs ±0.6 m high, strongly zigzagging with short internodes, glabrous or minutely pubescent. Rhizome and roots not seen. Cladodes solitary, paired at stem apices, alternate, divaricate, spinous, ±10 mm long. Flowers few to several, in an apical fascicle, shorter than the 3 surrounding cladodes; perianth typical, tepals ±4 mm long, white; stalk ±4 mm long, surrounded by minute bracts, disc near base. Berry ±5 mm in diameter.
