Characteristics

Plants up to 30 cm tall. Stems sparsely to loosely or in upper part to rather densely hairy; hairs appressed, white, at nodes also black, 0.1-0.3 mm. Leaves 7-12 cm; stipules 5-10 mm, behind stem distinctly connate, sometimes up to 3/4 of length, appressed white hairy; petiole 1.5-4.5 cm, with rachis sparsely to loosely hairy like stem; leaflets in 7-10 pairs, ellip­tic, 8-16 × 3-7 mm, abaxially sparsely to loosely covered with subappressed to ascending or even partly spreading white hairs 0.6-1 mm, adaxially glabrous or sparsely hairy like abaxial sur­face, apex rounded to acute or very shortly mucronulate. Ra­cemes ovoid, up to 20-flowered; peduncle 5-11 cm, sparsely white, below raceme increasingly black hairy; bracts 3-4 mm, predominantly black hairy. Calyx 5-7 mm, loosely covered with appressed black hairs 0.2-0.4 mm and sometimes with some white hairs 0.5-0.7 mm; teeth unequal 2.5-4.5 mm. Petals violet; standard widely ovate to rhombic-orbicular, 10.5-12 × 7-8 mm; wings 8-11 mm; keel 7-9 mm. Legumes ± spreading, with a stipe ca. 2 mm, 5-6 mm, 2-2.5 mm high and wide, with a minute beak, incompletely 2-locular; valves loosely ± appressed white and black hairy.
