Leaf lamina elliptic or elliptic-oblanceolate (rarely obovate-rhombic) borne normally on the stem or high on the peduncles near base of pedicels, 2–7 × 1·5–3 cm., acute and apiculate at the apex, cuneate at the base, entire or wavy above the middle, grey-tomentose on both surfaces; petiole about 1 cm. long.
Flowers in few to several-flowered umbel-like cymes or heads; peduncle 0·6–4 cm. long; pedicels 4–13 mm. long; inflorescences sometimes compound, being monochasially branched and continued beyond the first leaf and cyme; bracts small, elliptic-lanceolate or large, ovate-cordate, with prominent midrib.
Stems up to 2 m. tall, often much-branched above the base, more or less hollow, tomentose or densely hairy.
Corolla white with purpole tube, funnel-shaped up to 3–5 cm. long.
Sepals ovate-lanceolate, 5–10 mm. long, acute.
Seeds ovoid-subtrigonous, brown, pubescent.
Shrubby short-lived perennial or annual.
Capsule globose, yellowish.
