Succulent, perennial herb. Stem up to 0.2 m high, erect or eventually sprawling, covered with spiralling leaves for whole length, proliferating from base. Leaves 5-ranked or imbricate, light to midgreen, turning purplish when exposed to sun, standing out at almost right angles to stem, flat-triangular, rigid, shining, apex with extremely sharp point. Inflorescences lax, erect. Flowers greenish white or pale cream-coloured, with green midribs. Flowering time Aug.-Mar.
