Characteristics

Plant with many densely leaved stems, stems erect, gradually becoming decumbent with age, to 30 cm in length and 3.5-4 cm in diam. Leaves erect, crowded, smooth and deep green in color, in five spiral rows, lanceolate-deltoid, acuminate, and with a very sharp tip, 3 cm long and 15 mm wide towards the base, face of leaves almost flat, slightly concave in the younger leaves, back of leaves rounded and from about the middle to the tip obliquely keeled, the margins and keel roughened with very minute deltoid teeth. Peduncle slender, the raceme with 30 or more flowers; pedicels short; bracts lanecolate-deltoid, 5-6 mm long; perianth about 13 mm long and somewhat hexagonal, of a peculiar, rough, white, spongy texture, green lined, the very short, dull yellow segments slightly spreading and obtuse.
