Characteristics

Little-branched, glabrous shrub, 0.9-1.5 m high, often reddish tinged. Leaves alternate, sessile, linear, entire, acute. Capitula discoid, few together in simple, terminal corymbs, pedunculate; involucre cyathiform to urceolate; bracts imbricate, brown, hard and shiny, margins dark brown and lacerate, outer bracts triangular to ovate, acute in outline but with obtuse apex, inner bracts oblong, rounded. Receptacle epaleate. Disc florets tubular below, campanulate above, with scattered long-stalked glands, yellow. Flowering time Sept.-Dec. Pappus absent. Cypselae cylindrical, 10-12-ribbed.
