Decumbent perennial, monoecious. Branches slender. Leaves narrowly elliptic to elliptic or ovate, 15–40 mm long, acute, narrowed at base into a short petiole; glabrous above, with scaly sheen below. Male flowers in glomerules c. 3 mm diam., disjunct or forming slender dense spikes to 5 cm long. Female flowers in axillary clusters of 2–4. Fruiting bracteoles with stipe c. 1 mm long; valves flat, rhomboidal to broadly deltoid, acute, c. 4 mm long and wide, entire, fused in lower half, appressed. Seed with ascending radicle.
