An erect to sprawl ing shrub 0.5-2.5 m tall, with a si ngle main stem. Leaves needle-like to spatulate, 45-100 mm long, 1-3 mm wide, with a channel on the upper swface. Male flowerhead a lax, terminal, stalked raceme, 30-50 mm long, axi llary, borne in clusters of 5-15. Style thread-like, 6-7 mm long, tip a club-shaped to cylindrical pollen presenter. Female flowerhead a tenninal, globose, stalked cup formed by 20-38 cmwardly curved bundles of axillary branches and bearing stalked female flowers on a sho1t central axis. Style 6-8 mm long, tip bilobed. Fruits with 4 prominent vertical ridges, of which the 2 median ridges are frúinged with long white hairs, and a network of smaller ridges connect them.
Single-stemmed, dioecious shrub to 2.5 m. Leaves needle-like, sometimes linear-spathulate, terete or subterete. Flowers in terminal racemes, yellow, female flowers congested, with involucre of sterile branchlets.
