Aulax umbellata R.Br.

An erect shrub up to 2.5 mtall, with a single main stem. Leaves linear to oblanceolate, 20-110 mm long, 2-15 mm wide. Male flowerhead a lax terminal raceme, rarely compound, borne i n clusters of 4-10. Style thread-like, 6-10 mm long, terminating in a club-shaped pollen presenter. Female flowerhead a globose cup formed by 20-38 cmwardly curved bundles of axillary branches, covered externally with leaf-l ike bracts, and bearing stalked female flowers, some terminally, on a central conical column. Style 6-8 mm long, tip bilobed and with minute rounded projections. Fruits ovoid to obovoid, compressed, with 4 prominent ridges and dense, long, white hairs on the equatorial ridge.
