Characteristics

Small shrub or tree to 30 m high. Stipules subulate, 1–1.3 mm long. Leaves: petiole 4–10 mm long; lamina cuneate-obovate to elliptic, 22–110 mm long, 10–36 mm wide, base cuneate to almost attenuate, margin entire or weakly sinuate, tip acute or obtuse, lateral veins 7–10 per side of midrib. Male flowers: pedicels 4.5–8 mm long; sepals 2+2, narrowly ovate to suborbicular, 3–4 mm long; stamens 7–9. Female flowers: pedicels 2–5 mm long; sepals 2+2, ovate, 2–2.5 mm long; ovary trilocular. Fruit trilocular, ovoid, 18–23 mm long, c. 18 mm diam. Seeds ovoid, c. 10 mm long, 5–6 mm wide; caruncle red.
