Characteristics

Terrestrial ± leafless glabrous herb, with slender, somewhat flexuous, scape up to 33 cm. high, arising at apex of tubers.. Roots absent; tubers ± horizontal, narrowly cylindrical, up to 5 cm. long and 8 mm. in diameter.. Stem up to 30 cm. high, bearing 1–several cataphylls along its length, well spaced towards base, much closer above.. Peduncle slender, up to 3 cm. long; rhachis longer, up to 8 cm. long, closely or loosely several–many-flowered; bracts spreading, lanceolate, acuminate, 1–3 mm. long.. Flowers spreading or ± erect, yellowish brown or brown; pedicel with ovary up to 5 mm. long in flower.. Tepals ± connate, forming obscurely 2-lipped tube, upper lip formed by dorsal sepal and petals connate for ± half total length, lower lip formed from lateral sepals connate almost to apices; dorsal sepal and petals linear-ligulate, slightly wider in apical half, up to 7.5 mm. long and 0.7 mm. broad; lateral sepals forming a synsepalum up to 7 mm. long and 2 mm. broad.. Lip free, entire, oblanceolate-spathulate, obtuse at apex, up to 6.5 mm. long and 1.4 mm. broad, without callus.. Column erect, widened towards apex, up to 5.5 mm. long; anther hemispherical; stigma almost orbicular; rostellum scarcely elongated..
