Characteristics

Plants 40-60 mm high. Stem subterranean, unbranched, smooth. Leaves broadly ovate, held ± at right angles to sheaths, ± ovate, 30-40 x 20-25 mm, smooth, margins thickened, minutely papillate and crisped. Spike decumbent, short, 2-to 6-flowered; bracts green below, dry and translucent light brown toward tips, hairless, outer 17-19 mm long, inner 20-25 mm long, notched at apex. Flowers zygomorphic, pale yellow-green flushed with mauve, lower lateral tepals with white to cream-coloured median blotches, with sweet spicy scent; perianth tube funnel-shaped, narrow part hollow to base, 22-25 mm long; tepals unequal, dorsal ± 30 x 7-8 mm, upper lateral tepals joined to lower for ± 6 mm, forming a lip, lower tepals ± 20 mm long. Stamens unilateral; filaments ± 15 mm long; anthers 7-8 mm long. Ovary smooth; style dividing opposite anther tips, branches ± 3.5 mm long.
