Characteristics

Plants up to 50 mm high, including leaves. Stem reaching up to 30 mm above ground, unbranched, smooth, enclosed below by thick fibrous collar. Leaves lanceolate, blades held at right angles to short pseudopetioles 20-30 mm long, almost horizontal, 30-40 x 13 mm, scarcely plicate, smooth or sparsely long-hairy on upper margins, prominently 3-or 4-ribbed. Spike horizontal, (1)2-to 5-flowered; bracts green, smooth, closely striate, 25-70 mm long, inner shorter than outer, forked apically, tips pale and dry. Flowers zygomorphic, outer tepals lilac, occasionally yellow, inner tepals pale yellow; perianth tube ± 25 mm long, funnel-shaped; tepals unequal, dorsal ± 27 mm long, lower 3 tepals 20-23 mm long. Stamens unilateral; filaments 16-17 mm long; anthers ± 6 mm long, said to be declinate. Ovary smooth; style dividing just beyond anther tips, branches 3-4 mm long, expanded at tips.
