Plants acaulescent, up to 300 mm high, including leaves. Stem smooth or sparsely hairy, usually 1-or 2-branched, occasionally reaching shortly above ground, with cataphylls and dry leaf sheaths forming a collar around base. Leaves ± 8, oval to round in section, ± 2 x 1.3-1.6 mm, narrowly 2-grooved on wider surfaces, 1-grooved on narrow surfaces, margins sparsely hairy below. Spike decumbent, crowded, secund in 2 ranks, up to 10-flowered; bracts green with rust-brown at tips, acute-attenuate, 18-25 mm long, inner ± as long as outer, forked apically for 3-4 mm. Flowers zygomorphic, predominantly pink, beige toward tepal bases, lower 3 tepals with narrow diamond-shaped markings in lower midline, red in throat, tepals ± uniformly pink outside; perianth tube cylindric, slender, 65-70 mm long, hollow, slightly curved; tepals narrowly linear and twisted, spreading with dorsal held slightly apart from upper laterals, ± 30 x 4 mm, upper lateral and lower tepals ± 26 x 2.5 mm. Stamens unilateral; filaments ± 12 mm long, inserted ± 2.5 mm below mouth of tube; anthers 5.5-6.0 mm long, white; pollen white. Ovary smooth; style arching over stamens, dividing at or shortly beyond anther tips, branches ± 5 mm long, notched apically.
