Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 20 m high. Leaves alternate; petiole 6–62 mm long; lamina cuneate-oblanceolate, obovate or oblong, 25–230 mm long, 7–80 mm wide, with 12–15 lateral veins. Glands at base of lamina absent. Inflorescence axillary. Male flowers 3–4 mm long, 4.6–5 mm diam.; pedicels 1–2 mm long; sepals lanceolate–ovate, 3–3.5 mm long, c. 2 mm wide; petals lanceolate-ovate, 4–4.5 mm long, 2–2.2 mm wide; stamens 10–15 with glabrous filaments. Female flowers 4–5 mm long, 7–8 mm diam.; pedicels 2–4 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, c. 4 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide; petals lanceolate-ovate, 4–5.5 mm long, c. 3 mm wide; styles recurved, c. 2 mm long, shallowly bifid. Fruit depressed-globose, c. 12 mm long, 14–16 mm diam. Seeds ellipsoid to subglobose, 7–8 mm long, 5–5.5 mm wide.
