Leaf buds densely white-or creamy-hairy. Leaves ovate or elliptic, 2.2-7 x 1.3-3.5 cm, base cuneate or attenuate, apex acute or obtuse, apiculate, soon glabrescent; lateral veins 4-6 pairs; petiole 0-5 mm long. Inflorescence axillary, 1-flowered, subsessile; bracts foliaceous; bracteoles held ± patent to calyx, (linear-)oblanceolate or elliptic, often narrowing up stem, 6.5-20 x 1.5-6.5 mm, glabrous; pedicels 1.5-4.5 mm long. Calyx somewhat accrescent; anterior lobe broadly ovate, 14-22.5 x 10.5-22.5 mm, base (sub)cordate, apex emarginate or notched up to 3.5 mm, rarely obtuse, exterior surface glabrous, interior surface puberulous towards centre, venation palmate, prominent; posterior lobe as anterior but 15-27 mm long, apex acute to rounded, apiculate; lateral lobes lanceolate, 4-7 mm long, shortly ciliate. Corolla 31-42.5 mm long, pale blue to mauve or white, glabrous or limb pubescent externally; tube cylindrical, 14-15 mm long, barely expanded towards mouth; limb in 4+1 arrangement; abaxial lobe 14-20 x 9-11 mm, offset by 4.5-8 mm; lateral lobes 12-19.5 x 8-10.5 mm; adaxial lobes as laterals but 5-9 mm wide. Stamens attached 5-6 mm from base of corolla; filaments 18-26.5 mm long; anthers 4-5 mm long; lateral staminodes 1.3-1.8 mm long. Ovary glabrous or with few pale hairs at apex; style glabrous; stigma 1.6-3.7 mm long. Capsule 15.5-18.5 mm long, glabrous. Seeds 7.5-8.5 x 6.5-7 mm.
