Probably a small spiny shrub. Branches terete, covered with several celled, white, patent hairs. Leaves petiolate, orbicular or broadly elliptic, upper leaves spathulate, mucronate, base tapering into the petiole, 15 mm long and broad, herbaceous, glabrous, lower side lighter in colour, the lower lateral nerves distinct, converging to the apex; petiole 5 mm long. Axillary spines 4-rayed, numerous, 12 mm long. Flowers axillary, solitary, more or less approximated in the upper axils. Bracteoles spinous, very rarely narrowly spathulate, 12 mm long. Outer sepals elliptic, attenuated at the apex to a short spine, rounded at the base, 8 mm long, 4 mm broad, with stipitate glands in the upper part, glabrous elsewhere; inner sepals as the outer, slightly smaller. Corolla glabrous, tube cylindrical, short, 9 mm long; upper lip 4.8 cm long, 4-lobed, lobes 2.4 cm long; lower lip 2.5 cm long, entire. Stamens inserted about halfway the corolla tube. The two perfect stamens with thick, glabrous filaments, 5.5 cm in length and anthers, 3 mm long; filaments of the imperfect stamens short, hairy, 1 mm long. Ovary glabrous, style overtopping the exserted stamens, filiform. Capsule glabrous, 17 mm long, 7 mm broad.
